Race: New principal racing club for Northern Territory

DARWIN, Feb 3 AAP - Members of the Darwin Turf Club (DTC) last night voted unanimously
to establish a new Principal Club to oversee racing in the Northern Territory.

The move follows concerns expressed by some sections of the NT racing community about
a lack of representation in the previous Principal Club, and fears the old arrangements
were "too Darwin-centric".

The Darwin Turf Club has operated as the sole Principal Club in the NT since 1995 and
also represents the NT on the Australian Racing Board.
